Proper Attire: Students will need to be dressed in their proper Oak Grove attire for the entire class period. After the bell, students will be allotted two minutes to change into their PE clothes and be in the gym participating in the warm up. Please bring proper tennis shoes each and every day to class. If possible, have a pair of shoes just for Physical Education. Flip flops, sandals, cleats, crocs, boots, etc., are not allowed in Physical Education. All shoes must have the toes covered and a secure backing. When in physical education, shoes must be tied and remain tied throughout the class period. If shoes are not appropriate for Physical Education then the student will walk during the class period with a reduction in points. If proper attire is not worn, there will be a reduction in points.
Classroom Expectations: Respectful- Raise hand, remain quiet when teacher is talking, follow directions, use equipment properly, and demonstrate sportsmanship! Responsible- Turn in your own work and on time, be ready to learn and participate, keep area clean, include others in activities. Resourceful- Work as a team (Together Everyone Achieves More), keep trying and NEVER give up, know and be aware of environment, use words to solve problems in an appropriate manner.
Typical Day: In a typical day students will perform the following activities in class: Instant warm up Activities, 4 minute tabata workout, ladder drills, strength exercise warm up stretching, Begin activity of the day, cool down stretching, Q&A of new concepts. Full participation and attentiveness is expected for all activities listed above.
Points (10 per day): Proper Attire: 1 point (athletic shoes and OG shirt) Warm up/Dynamic Stretch/STrength Exercise: 2 points Overall Participation: 5 points Cool down/ Q&A: 2 points Total: 10 points *Each day you start with 10 points, it is your RESPONSIBILITY to maintain all 10 points throughout the class*
Activity Days: These days will be done everyday besides once a week. Activity days will be where we will learn fundamentals, concepts, and history of the activity/sport.
Fitness Days: Fitness days will be PERFORMED at least one day per week. A fitness day will consist of various activities such as HIIT training, exercise stations, cardiovascular endurance, muscular endurance, steps, etc.
Assessments/ Homework: One can expect to have homework assignments in Physical Education throughout the year. Assessments will be given to students for applying their cognitive, affective, and psychomotor domains on the fundamentals and concepts of the current ACTIVITIES.
